K-FONIK® GV is a mass-loaded, lead- and halogen-free elastomeric acoustic insulation noise barrier that is flexible, non-reinforced, resilient, and blocks the transmission of airborne noise from one area to another. K-FONIK® GV is ideal for direct application to the noise source and/or to the housing covering the noise source. The product is stocked in rolls (25’ or 50' length x 48” width) of masses of 0.75 and 1.5 lb/sq ft. The product has a temperature range of -40°F to +158°F. The reduction of airborne noise and mass properties exhibited by K-FONIK® GV are attained without the use of hazardous lead or heavy metals.
K-FONIK® GV is made with fire-resistant mineral fillers and is 25/50-rated when tested to ASTM E 84 standards. The product also complies with ASTM E 162, ASTM E 662 and IMO A 653 (CE Marine).
K-FONIK® GV offers excellent acoustic performance (STC = 27 dB at 1.5 lb/sq ft) by reducing structure-borne noise generated by a vibrating surface and airborne noise when placed between a sound source and its receiver. The vibration of metal panels, housings and enclosures is a common source of high intensity noise.
The reduction of resonant vibrational energy and noise can efficiently and economically be achieved by use of K-FONIK® GV, which converts vibrational energy to heat energy, resulting in the following benefits: reduction of vibration transfer to adjoined surfaces, increased working life of the metal, and the ability to use thinner metal without the need for ribs, shaping, or other complications.
Recommended applications include equipment and engine rooms, machine covers, piping, general construction, and mass transit.
